Have you ever done something like this? A friend of mine sneezed and broke her ribs. I've lifted a heavy bag and torn some muscles and hurt my ribs. Sheesh! Have any of you ever done something like this?

I am always doing things like this hookfan - lifting a bag , it breaks and a glass jar inside smashes and cuts my foot, this is just one of many, many things I've done! Then I wonder why my daughter is clumsy lol !

LOL Mummymo! I have been outside in the dark (which I can't see in anyway) and broke 3 toes on my right foot when I tripped over a brick! That hurt, but I think this hurts a bit more! At least I can breathe a bit easier today! xxx

That sounds like your intercostal muscles hookfan! I have damaged these before and know every movement - even breathing - can hurt! Remember to rest honey and if it doesn't clear up go see your doctor, please!

Not to worry mummymo I've already had the doc come out to take a look and yup that's what it is. Lots of rest and paracetemol (pain relief) and will be right as rain :) xx

Hi, Hookfan. I have shut the car door on my fingers twice. And I once shut the bathroom door on my finger and the nail busted. But that same evening I washed the dishes in the sink without wearing gloves and the next day the finger was infected. It was so sore that I had to go to the doctor. He gave me a shot and told me that to keep the nail from growing back lumpy and crooket that he needed to cut the nail off. So I approved his treatment. Boy but that was so painful. I cried like a baby. It was more painful than giving child birth. There are a lot of nerve endings in the finger tips and that is why it is so sentive. But the next time I got an infected nail I had a different doctor and he did not prescribe the same remedy and the nail did not grow back smoothly because he did not cut the old nail off. But I guess that it was all right because I did not have to go through such pain again!

Sounds very painful and hopefully you will not have to go through something like that again! I'm always careful of my fingertips as they are extremely sensitive and able to read Braille. I hate it when I burn them sometimes :D

yes I have done something stupid and I am paying for it now , I have arthritis in my knees and it all started with a fall , I wanted the loo during the night some years ago , I didn't want to waken myself up so I came downstairs in the dark , I thought I was on the bottom step and I went flying , I was 3 steps from the bottom and came down on my knees , we have as stone floor anger the carpets and I gave myself some fall , I never got it checked out ( don't really know if it would have made any difference though , so now I have the aches and pains . I have a night light in the electric socket now though no more dark stairs xx

wow, i didnt know you could break a rib by sneezing! thats a powerful sneeze lol! i think the most boneheaded thing ive done has been walking towards an open doorway and turn my head back to yell something and then of course turn my head back just in time to run smack into the door jam. ouch. that one hurt, didnt break anything though, luckily!

I didn't know you could break a rib sneezing either. Apparently sneezes can travel up to 100mph and it can happen. Glad you didn't break anything!

I am really accident prone. I've fallen several times just because I was hurrying and not paying attention to the surface I was walking on. I've broken bones three times that way and knock a tooth loose another. Once I fell face first onto a concrete floor, bounced my cheekbone and badly sprained an ankle. Then later discovered that I had knocked my jaw just enough off center to create tmj a few years later. Sometimes I think I should live in a plastic bubble!

Sounds quite painful to me! Ouch. I've hurried before and gotten hurt too. Then I found out I was actually quite visually impaired and that's why I kept tripping over things. Now I'm a bit more careful and don't get hurt as often :D
