I've heared babyoil and lotion 1/2 and 1/2 let it sit for a bit. The babyoil kills the bugs and the lotion removes the nits. I've also heard that dog shampoo works too. the medicated kind. If not use the lice shampoo and put lots of contioner on her that helps alot with nits. good luck. hate the lice

Hello there, many thanks for your response. Especially the tip in getting rid of the headlice. I was told by a friend to use Tee Tree Oil, obviously vegetable oil will be less side effect.

Lice can be a pretty frustrating recurrent problem. I also noticed many of the new lice shampoos on the market aren't as strong as the ones used when I was a little girl--it was like every parent swore by 'qwell'. If you are having a really bad time with recurrent lice, I'd take your daughter to the pediatrician/doctor and let them prescribe something stronger to treat them with. Here is a great site with helpful tips and facts about nits and lice: http://www.headlice.org/faq/questions.htm

Here in the Philippines, we have shampoos designed to get rid of lice and most of the time they are effective. It takes time before all the lice are gotten rid of, but they are effective as ever. Maybe you could try organic solutions against headlice if you had tried shampoos to no avail.

First, you have to be relentless with that lice comb. Even after you kill the lice there will be eggs left so you will need to use a lice comb on her hair at least twice a day. If you keep treating it and it keeps coming back then they have infested your house. Buy some cans of that lice spray and thouroughly spray everything you can't wash in the machine. She may also be repeatedly getting them from another location, find out who she spends the most time with and wether or not she's sharing hats, barrettes, etc with her best friends at school. Most likely she's not the only one infected because those little buggers spread like wildfire. Hope this helps!

This what I did when faced same problem as yours . I took 2 days off of work and cleaned my house top to bottom with bleach and water. Shampoo your carpets, mattresses, couches and chairs. You wont like it but your house will never have been cleaner. Bag up or throw away all stuffed animals and toys for 3 months. Wash all clothes in hot water and dry on high heat weather you think they need it or not. Dont allow other regular visitors to your home for at least a week. Treat everyones hair as directed. Dont forget your car lice lives there too. Make phone calls to anyone who has been exposed to infected persons. It may be embarassing but it will definately help. It is not a sin to have it. It is a sin to not do anything about it. Vaccume and rewash bedding every day. Lysol is exactly the same thing as lice spray, but its cheaper .
