Is it okay to name pets after mental disorders?

Naming pets Brownie, Softy, Blackie, and Lassie is so pedestrian. I'm thinking of getting a cat and naming it Schizophrenia, nickname schizo. If you don't think it's okay to name pets after mental disorders, please say so. Otherwise, please suggest a good name for my soon-to-be-pet.

WEll, I don't find it a bad name for a cat since it's definitely a unique one, bUt why SCHIZO of all? I suppose it's a mental illness, right? :) Anyway, no one has the right in this world to interfere on what we wanna name our pets. So whatever the reason why you chose that name for your cat, then I suggest go for it. :)

I like the name myself. I had a cat that used to launch herself from chairs onto our backs at random. We called he Spaz. She was spastic and we loved her.

Usually, a person buys a pet, then names him/her according to some charactoristic. If you purchase a wild crazy animal, then I guess Schizophrenia would be an appropriate name.

Oh, I like that idea. So much more original than most pet names. I don't name my pets things like "Fluffy" either. I have a cat named Oliver, and before him, I had cats named Maggie, Molly, and Polly. Maybe we learn that sort of thing from our families? My grandma named her cat Sarah and her dogs Mindy & Mandy. I think you should stick with your idea for your cat!
