Anime and manga are pretty much a world wide hit, mainly with teen to early adult males.

I agree. It's a much bigger fad in the United States than here in the Philippines. But it really irks me how most people (Americans and Filipinos alike) think that liking (or even just knowing) anime equates to being cool, to being different from the "rest" who watch "silly cartoons". Japanese and American cartoons are just forms of entertainment, not social movement. I think all cartoons are silly and I love them :)

I'm an anime fan, and not only that, I'm also a cosplayer. I really like anime because of its graphics and story - it has different twists. And they really have a good quality.

I think anime is catching on in most places not just the Philippines. Here in the US its getting real popular. I think the reason people like it is because of the magical/fantasy storyline's which aren't always for children. A lot of the anime is geared for adults. And thats probably why people like it.

yup i got hooked into anime specially with Naruto and One Piece but i don't watch it from local networks anymore, dubs change some on the conversations and make it less funny or true to the scheme or plot, i enjoy it more with subs. also i hate the way our local networks abuse the commercials. theres too many of them, like half of the show are commercials and some of the scenes are cut too. so i just download them and watch them.

Its been a hit since japanese animes have unique stories, unlike philippine stories which is just repeating. How many captain barbels are ther? how about Darna and Fantastic man? They even edit the plot of the story and make it synanimous to other hit series. for example, the latest captain barbell's series is no longer the original, the story is somehow like smallville series.Do you agree? Prince of tennis, Knock out, Slam Dunk, Detective Conan, Naruto and one piece are my favorite.

I do watch anime but not the mainstream ones that they show in local channels and Hero TV. I think that most of the Filipinos just watch it for the sake of "watching" anime...just to be cool and stuff... hayyy...it's depressing to know that my countrymen have deteriorated into drones.

I've been hooked on programs ever sice i was younger. Due to influence and anime is really a big thing in the Phils. I don't know anyone who hasn't watched an anime (except for parents and older people) at least once in their lifetime.
