A life jacket for a dog? For boating? Swimming?

I think you are out of the loop on this one. I am sure I have seen them on dogs before.. As a matter of fact, many years ago. It makes perfect sense really. With a life jacket dogs could swim for a long way to shore.

your out of the loop sorry cher, i've known about them for years, my friends have a boat and they have a cat who has his own lifejacket...lol

They have been around for a while. It's good because you can see the dog in the water, and it lessens the chances of him drowning (Yes, dogs can drown!!!) I have a little dog who is dark in coloring, and he will have a life vest this year when we go to visit our friends who have a house on a river. It can be very easy to lose site of him, and the currents are pretty strong.

No, I do not think they are new. I have seen the kind with a handle on the dogs back - if it falls out of the boat you can easily get it back into the boat. Interesting things - I thought dogs could swim.
