I have returned from a party. Joining a group of die-hard royalists in a hotel suite in the city to watch (on BBC) Prince Charles’s second marriage to Mrs. Camilla Parker Bowles, I was late because of some daily chores, and missed the first part of the wedding, the civil ceremony, earlier on. I watched the service to bless the Royal couple held in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. I never liked the late Princess of Wales, Princess Diana very much. During the short service, I grew fonder of the Duchess of Cornwall, as Camilla is now officially known, minute by minute. At the end of the broadcast, when one of the commentators said, “Prince Charles, finally, married the woman he had loved for more than three decades since they first met”, I could control myself not any more and tears trickled slowly down my face. Comparing with Prince Charles’s first marriage, this one, I think, is far more romantic and fairy-tale like. I joined the Brits to cheer for the couple and wish them to live happily ever after. When I left, they were still partying. dd
