Have you experienced on having cramp while in the water?

you are swimming and you are in a distance away from the others when suddenly one of your leg cramped what would be your first action to be done?

Yes I did and it happened twice the same day.. I'm thinking that it was because the water from the falls is too cold or I didn't warm up my body after a very long walk.. But all my friend does is help me massage my foot until the cramp is gone..
