These days, everything runs on batteries it seems. That's ok, but batteries can get costly, and they can be an environmental issue too. So...the tough question I think becomes: "Should I use rechargeable or disposable batteries? And, why?" What about you? What kind do you use in your digital camera, your flashlights, your MP3, tape or CD player, your radio or 'boombox', etc., etc. Obviously, some items like cell phones come with rechargeables, so there's little choice, but many other items leave it up to the consumer. I'll post my choice and explanation in a later response.

In my household we use mainly rechargeable batteries. There are a few items such as watches that you can't ger recycleables for. We like buying recycleables because of cost.We have 4 kids that we supply battries for.

Yeah...with 4 kids and yourselves, you'd have to have a monthly 'budget' for batteries, if you didn't use rechargeables. Thanks for the post.

These days i don't use all too many batteries that aren't rechargeable, but if you're referring to double and triple A batteries, I've more often then not used the disposable kind. I'm thinking though perhaps i should give the rechargeable ones a shot sometime, since in the long run it would be better for your wallet, and the environment.

Aha...yeah, mostly the AAA and AA. Many items come with special (proprietary) rechargeables (cell phones, etc.), but digital cameras, radios, tape, CD players most often use standard AAA, AA or even C or D. Thanks for the post.
