Sea salt... does it really benefit you?

I have recently read a lot of articles proclaiming the many health benefits of sea salt. I guess they hooked me because I bought some. I bought celtic brand sea salt because the articles specifically mentioned that as a great brand. I have enjoyed the taste and I do use it more freely than the old iodized salt. So far, I have had less heartburn. I have tried to cut down on other items containing sodium but have found it hard to do. I just never gave it too much thought before. I mean, who would have thought a frozen waffle had so much sodium??? Has anyone else heard of the benefits of sea salt? Has anyone heard it is just a bunch of bull? Has anyone's health benefited from the use of sea salt? I would love to hear what anyone has to say about this. Thanks!!!

Two things come to mind here ... One, By removing the chloride (table salt) you are doing your body well. Sodium chloride is the form of salt that has been shown to cause health problems. Two, Sea salt has no added chemicals, and does supply your body with some of its needed trace minerals. However, Sea salt does NOT contain Iodine, a VERY important substance particularly for a women as it can prevent cancer and even cure some "boob" diseases. The amount in table salt is NOT anywhere near enough though. Just FYI! HTH, ~Rachel

I can't answer the question but my mother-in law says it does. I know we stayed with her for a little while and I actually started to prefer the taste. I do know its great in a bath.
