News paper reading is important or not !!

Once when the news papers were the only source of news we used to read it fully in morning hour or whenever we found time. But today the latest news with live updates are availabe in TV channels, so the importance of reading papers have reduced. We have not enough time to go in details. We want first hand information in terse. So TV channels are better options for news. Though from the language and vocabulary point of view reading of new papers is essential and beneficial.
