My mom has been asking me for a while now to take a couple months break from work to concentrate on my health. Im not being able to give it too much attention because of my crazy work hours. But Im apprehensive about doing so coz i feel that it would be difficult to get another job once i take a break (coz ill be out of the loop n stuff). I need advice as to what should I do. Is it advisable to take a vacation from work? Or should i continue building a career even at the cost of my health?

Hello bindishah! Have you decided already when you are going to follow your mom and take a break? I think your mom is right and take some time for your health. As they say, health is wealth, so consider it. You can still find a job after resting for a while.

Take a vacation if you have vacation days take them to get away. I know you cant take months leave but take a week at one time or take a few days off. Remove yourself completely from the work scene. Try to go out of town or have planned activities in town to keep your mind completely occupied from work. avoid talking about your job while you are off. i think you ceratinly need plenty of rest, good nutrition, exercise, and the support of friends and family members. Do something for yourself that gives you joy or pleasure. Read a good book or take in a film you've been wanting to see. Allow your loved ones to help too. money is not everything, health comes first.

thanks for your suggestions. But my health problems would take more than a week off from work. Its not that im jsut stressed out - its a whole bunch of other stuff too.

in that case you need to take some medical advise to deal with your health problems.

I don't think you should build a career at the cost of your health. Yet then again, you are the one who has to decide your own priority. Which is more important to you?

I'm sure that you should take a break from your job. I think getting break is as important as working hard. Breaks helps you to concentrate on your work more. And if breaks are coming due to health problem than yes, definately you should go for a big break and give your self time to heal.

In my opinion, health is more important than job. We can get kinds of job, but healthy body is only one. So, I suggest you to have a rest, with health you will gain better job, I think.

What's the point of having money if you're just gonna spend it on doctors? Think about that for a while.. :)
