I have bought 2 secondhand cellphones twice and both never lasted for a month. I wanted to save since the one who would use the cellphone is just my children's nanny and one would be used supposedly used in my loading business. Have you ever bought any secondhand cellphones too? Were you able to make very good use of them?

When I was still in the Philippines, I was able to buy second-hand cellphones on two occasions. The first one was my second cellphone after I sold my first one (which has turned obsolete in terms of features at the time). This second-hand one was quite expensive, but after two months, I had been bringing it to the repair shop because it hung a lot of times, especially whenever I would play the games. I then sold this to buy another second-hand phone which has actually worked well for a year, and still working as I speak, has never been to a repair shop, and with all its new features is really durable. It's a Nokia 6600. I think it really depends whether one gets lucky or not. Hehe. But you're right, more often than not, second-hand mobiles could give a lot of people a headache. My friends also experienced that. Happy myLotting!

I think you are right that it's a matter of luck in terms of getting a real bargain and working as well. However, my experience really put me off buying secondhand cellphone ever.

my present cellphone is a second hand but i bought it from a person whom i think is very careful in maintaining her things ion an orderly manner. she said that it was a gift given to her by her aunt but that phone, she thinks, do not suite her lifestyle because it is in Pink! i love the phone ands so i bought it. she said that it is rarely used and almost brand new, had some scratches but still okay. i am now enjoying the features of it and i am thankful that i bought it from the right person. if you bought your cp from greenhills, it is really expected to have some low quality thing from that cp of yours. better trust the person whom you have contact with rather than not.

Thanks very much for the tip. If ever I will buy again another secondhand cellphone, I would certainly buy only from those people that I really know. Thanks for responding!

One of my phones before was second hand. It really is a little damaged when I bought it - it never came obvious until I used it. Now, I have learned my lesson: never buy a second hand, even though it's a lot cheaper in price... Commonly, second hand phones come from the pawnshops or GSM[I'll explain about the GSM a bit later].. When a second hand phone comes from a pawnshop, you have just a little guarantee that it's OK because pawnshops normally screen the phones that are sold to them... The GSM or 'Galing sa Magnanakaw' phones are stolen second hand phones - you know, because there are lots of Filipino snatchers. Normally, these phones are sold in low-level cellphone shops and when it's sold, it's commonly said to be 'reconditioned'. Never buy such phones... At the end of the day, it's best to buy a new one so nobody messes up!!! Happy postng!!

I think that is where I went wrong. I bought my cellphones in the cellphone shops downtown.

I think it is okay to buy other secondhand items such as clothing or even household appliances. We have here surplus shops or stores that really sells wonderful items that are real bargains.

My latest cell phone XDA O2 is secondhand cell phone, and it's fine until now. If you want to buy secondhand cell phone, be sure you buy from the users that you've known. And if you buy it in the store, make sure to get guarantee even only one month. So you can try it and check the quality. Usually you must check the battery and the LCD, and if the battery is not good enough just change it with the new one.

I had actually one month warranty for the ones that I bought but I didn't know it until it was too late because those who used the cellphone never told me until after one month.
