Why is Christianity exemplified by the KKK?

Yes but best I can recall the original KKK was something altogether different. They disappeared for awhile, and a new group came together and called themselves the KKK, the one we're familiar with, who basically had nothing to do with the original KKK. At least that's what I remember learning in high school.
