How far do you live from your working place?

Do you live near your working place? Is the location one criteria of choosing your job? If the company's location is really far from your home, will you rent a room in a building next to it, or just drive/take bus to work? How long can you bear this kind of long-distance travel. Will you quit the job because of distance problem? Will your boss allow you to work at home?

I live not so far from my working place. It's approximately 20 minutes from my home. I'm going to work by motorcycle.

oh, it is very good condition. you know in my city motrcycle is not allow be used for envirnomental prodction. so I maybe should choose by bus,by foot,or drive my own car, but you know ,it will waste lots of time on that ,I really think by motorcycle is a good way if is is allowed.

when I was working, my house was about 15km from my office. its not that far but traffic got worse then i need around 40 minutes for that 15 km travel. that was wasting of time which is the most precious resources, we can work for money but we cannot buy time. i hope when i back to work in next two years i can buy a house that very close to the office. i will try..

I live about 25 mins away from my work, it will be less than that in a few weeks as the company is moving to a new building that will be within walking distance...I live in a pretty central location so the distance is never an issue with me...for my hubby however, he has to move away from home to work, he lives and works in another province for weeks on end before we get to see each other...but its a lifestyle that most Newfoundlanders have grown accustom to, its now just a way of life..

I live 21 kms away from my work and 30 to 45 mins. drive. It's already a daily routine for me because i've been traveling the distance from my high school days up to the present and commuting is not that easy. When i applied for work i did not consider the location anymore, what important to me is the availability of the position. I'm very thankful because I have the same way with our new manager and some of our technicians bring home service vehicles and I ride with them and this lessen my transportation expenses.

I live 75 miles from where I work. I commute 5 days a week and its 150 miles a day round trip. I cannot make the same salary (or even close to it) near where I live. But on the flip side I cannot afford to live closer to work. Luckily a co-worker lives near-by and we carpool.

oh, my God, that is really a far way to you go to work, and if you can't carpool with you co-worker, I think the fee of on your way to company must cost you a lot.

It adds up. I usually spend close to $300 dollars a month in gas.

Fortunately, I live close to my work. But, I do have to travel to 4 different schools. My boss owns 4 private kindergartens in town, so it's my job to travel. I also bring my job home withme, without additional pay. I remember when I was working as a freelance massage therapist back in Canada, I would travel to my patient's home, treat them for one hour and move on. It's actually, quite time consuming and not to mention costly on gas. My recommendation is to find a job close to your place or even make a room and buy a place near your job, if you think you have good potential for advancment, because Time is money. Why waste it on travelling.
