If U were given $1,000 to change the life of a perfect stranger, what would U do?

You may have heard about the concept of paying it forward -- the idea of doing something meaningful to help someone else without asking for anything in return. So, if you were given $1,000 with the understanding that it had to be used to help others, how would you use the money and why?

I'd go out, fill up a cart with food at Safeway and drop it in the food bank box. Their reserves are really low right after holidays since people are only generous leading up to a holiday and not afterwards.

You have got a superb idea. It's going to benefit many a people at a single time. But in long run this idea is not very useful as it won't make anybody or any organization support for long time. I was thinking of getting somebody on his/her feet from this 1000$ .

It depends upon the person who needs this help.I will first consider in what way i could make the money beneficial for him.But whatever it may be i will first deopsit half of this amount in his name for a Fixed deposit so that it can be helpful for him to draw a lumpsum in times of need.I will see that the rest of money is used in a proper way like buying any articles or settling some loans of that stranger.

I would give it to a family that needed it, to pay off bills, and help take care of their children better. If I couldn't find one, than I would use to help out elderly folks, who needed some repairs done on their home or pay off some of their bills.

Funny, but this is what I do for a living... People pay me, so I could better their lives - either financialy, in health or both. It depends on what situation this men is. I help people create financial freedom, so I'd probably help him create a profitable buisness. What's good in that, that investing in that buisness I help to create, is also investing in one's health, so it solves the two things toghether...

You have made a good point dear friend. Yes , in India shelter is a big problem. As we move towards metros the people are really living in bad conditions. I also want to do something for them but as right now I'm also shelter less no chance lolz.

I don't think so that I will get banned for giving my own thought. I haven't read any discussion like this before . May be you are right but I hardly know any discussion like this. It's original. Haii, anyway if two people have thought same way then it's not a big problem. I think there are hunders of discussions with same topics and same thought.

I would first of all try to find a person who did not know Jesus as his/her personal Lord and savior, but was willing to get to know him. We could go out on Saturday to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We could go walk on the beach or watch the kids play in the park. It would have to include places where we could occassionally be alone to talk, so that I could share with them the love of God and answer any questions that they may have. The next day, I would want to invite them to church, so that they could hear the word of God preach and then fellowship and meet other Christians. Then, maybe after church, we could stop at the church bookstore and buy them a Bible and maybe go back to the park and do some bible studying. If there is any money left over, I would give it to them, get their number and keep in touch and hopefully we could become good Christian friends. I can not think of a better way to spend a thousand dollars.

i would go down to the shelter and look for the woman with the most kids down there and offer to help. raising a bunch of children is tough enough, but to do it while homeless..that would really suck.i'd try to help her find an apartment and start her life over.

I think I would give it to an organization that helps people without misusing the funds, so I would do a lot of research before choosing one. I also might try and get some companies to pitch in some as well, to match my funds.

it will surely depend on whom i have to help. How does he need help, if he is terminally ill then i will think of a good hospital , if he is poor then i will thing of getting him shelter and a job/study, so as you see its totally dependent on the situation...
