This Hurts Me

Ever since I found out about the Don Imus racial remarks, I had been thinking only about how it made me feel. I hadn't really considered what the girls on the team must be going through. Although, I did consider their mother's for a moment and how offended they must feel. But after seeing the girls speak out in the press conference, it really hurt me to see these young girls going through this. This could be anyone of my nieces going through this and it makes me angry that these girls are being hit with this hatred. Young people dream of being famous and on television, but no one wants it bad enough to have to face such hurt. I hadn't thought about how this could be affecting their self-esteem, at such a young age. How the media was hounding them day and night. And for what, all because they dared to live their dream. It's not fair and it's not right. I have always been the type to try to encourage young people. Growing up is hard and difficult enough, without being publicly humiliated by some jerk. I am really happy that they are getting the support that they need and that they have such a wonderful coach backing them.
