Higher formal education and life fulfillment

Nigeria

Hello everybody! I am new but I'm already enjoying this site.I'm always bothered by one issue, that is, when one can say 'I have formal enough education' or does having lots of degrees actually show how much one have accomplished in life?.I'm a degree holder and yet to have my post graduate degree though I'm working.I'm not academically inclined but see it as a means of getting livelihood.Ihave always been interested in starting my own business when I gather enough capital. But in Nigeria, people judge others by the level of education one have achieved,so my friends and relations think I'm not ambitious enough. So are there not some other things in life one can engage in to have a fulfilled life?

I wish I lived in Nigeria. My husband has a degree in Political Science. It has got him nowhere. He is working a regular job just like everyone else.I don't understand why people do not think you are ambitious? I think that holding a degree is ambitious enough.Don't let others get you down. You are doing great.I work online promoting sites and getting commission.I used the extra money to start a candle business.I don't have a degree and am not very smart.Go with your gut.If you want to start a business try.If you don't try you will never know. And it will bother you the rest of your life.I wish you all the luck in your future sucess.

hi guys, Don't ever think what people say. Just do what you need to do as long as in a good line. For me education or academy is not guarantee to get a better life, the most important is always hardworker and praying. Hope you sucess in your business! Btw, what kind of your business?

Hi os2ng, i think many people are caught up with the paper chase. Life fulfillment to some means success. This however, can be interpreted differently. For some, it is the wealth that they can amass for example to have have the latest ferrari or lamborghini, to have a house on a land that is 10 ha, etc. For some other people, it is the things they have done in life. For example, climbed Mount Everest, stay on a ranch, a hot air balloon ride over the valleys, bungee jumping in new zealand, helicopter ride over the grand canyon, etc.. I think, there are MANY things to discover in life. The more you get to explore, the more wonderful and meaningful things can be. All the best! - Lyn
