So long after it was in the movies I know, but I just watched this on netflix recently. I cried and cried, dont know if it's because I am pregnant and hormonal, but the fact that it was based on a true story just killed me. I cant imagine all they went through, and then he because a successful guy like that. I even read in readers digest that the car he commented on in the beginning of the store, he bought for himself once he "made it". What did you think of this movie?

I liked it, I thought Will Smith did a very good job in the role. Yeah it was poop the stuff they went thought but it shows with perserverance you can accomplish more then you think may be possible. Also if you believe you can do something, don't give up regardless of what others say.

I enjoyed the movie. Very touching. Judging by the trailers before I saw the movie, I figured the movie would have me in tears. At a couple of points it nearly did, but I never did cry while watching the movie. It takes a lot to make me cry at something in a movie, even if it is based on a true story, I guess.

I think Chris should have been given more realistic character flaws instead of seeming so saintly, however the movie was good

i have never seen it but here is the plot: In 1981, Chris Gardner was a struggling salesman in little needed medical bone density scanners while his wife toiled in double shifts to support the family including their young son, Christopher. In the face of this difficult life, Chris has the desperate inspiration to try for a stockbroker internship where one in twenty has a chance of a lucrative full time career. Even when his wife leaves him because of this choice, Chris clings to this dream with his son even when the odds become more daunting by the day. Together, father and son struggle through homelessness, jail time, tax seizure and the overall punishing despair in a quest that would make Gardner a respected millionaire.

I too cried! I couldn't help myself and I'm not pregnant but maybe still hormonal. :-) But I think it touched me more because I knew it was a true story. Being a parent myself, I just imagined what it must have felt like in the scene where he was in the bathroom letting his son sleep....trying to keep people out. I loved the movie. But I don't know if I could watch it again. Too emotional for me.
