What's your stand on this? In our country (Philippines) where I originally came from, nursing your baby in public is not a big deal. It's totally fine, while here in the USA a lot of the conservative ones are against to it.

In Portugal there is no law that prohibit you from nursing your child in public. They can do it and most people find it adorable. But it all depends on the culture people have. Some are more conservative, and some are more liberal. Since we are all free to think the way we want, the best thing we can do is respect other opinions and hope we get our opinion respected.

I agree, respecting each other's choices and opinions would be ideal. In a diverse country like the US, there are other people who may or may not uderstand nursing a baby in a public.

it is funny that so many people get annoyed or grossed out when they see a mommy nursing her baby. why? it is the natural way to feed your child. not to mention the health aspects of it, there are many. i am a journalist and i am currently working on a cover/center story on nursing in public. i am amazed at some of the stories that i have heard. i just dont get it. some women walk around with skimpy clothes on and you see more of her boob than a mother feeding her child. oh and isnt this the reason we have these lumps on our chests. contrary to popular men belief....it isnt for their pleasures!! i nurse my 16 month old in public when need be and i wait for the day for someone to tell me to stop or go somewhere else!!!

I think nursing your baby is the most natural thing in the world and the conservatives of the US are just silly. I remember while I was nursing my daughter my in-laws were so uncomfortable with the idea, that it was just unnatural, but then she would never have nursed her own children. I grew up in a household as the oldest and watched my mom nurse my siblings, so I knew.

Nursing is such a beautiful and natural thing. When a child is hungry they need to eat. Their little systems are not like adults, where we can hold out a while to eat. I think we all need to be sensitive to others around us and realize that the bottom line is what is best for a hungry child. I nursed my son for a year and I know there were times when I felt someone around me was uncomfortable with my doing so. At those times I made an effort to make sure we were being as discreet as possible. But I never felt that other people's discomfort was more important than the needs of my child.
