I like Butternut Squash better than potatoes, because it is sweeter and I grew up on eating squash as a side dish. It tastes good boiled, and add butter and salt, and eat with fish and cabbage and mixed vegetables. Mix carrots and squash, and it is better. I started eating potatoes when I was a teenager, and this spud doesen't have any taste to it, also I gained weight eating too much potatoes.Which do you like best: butternut Squash or potatoes?

Personally i have never tried butternut squash, my grandmother the other day suggested giving it to my 16month old daughter as a change, i have never really thought about it before then, am i missing out on something? I do like potatoes but only jacket potatoes as i eat the skin! I find other varieties a bit bland.

I eat more potatoes than butternut squash as potatoes are freely available here in Ireland, and squash less so. I think if you gathered 20 Irish folks not a whole lot of them would be able to even identify it.

True potatoes are full starch (carbs) that eating too much of can add some unwanted weight. But I like them! My kids do too. We normally eat potatoes about 2 times a wekk, as our starch with our dinner, in place of a rice or pasta. My kids are young and do not care for squash at all, so we don't eat that ever.

I didn't even know I liked squash until we moved out to the country and really started getting into gardening. We grew some squash, and it really took off. We cooked it several different ways including fried, and it was delicious. I like it better than regular potatoes but it is probably a tie between squash and sweet potatoes.

We grow both and so like them both. Eat a bit more potatoes in all they ways they can be made. The squash stores longer and can be relied on when the potatoes run out. Holidays are big for us with the squash. So we will take both potatoes and squash please.

I really like butternut squash but I hardly ever cook with it. Firstly my kids don't like it, so they moan if I make things with it. Secondly I find it really hard to peel and cut up, potatoes are much quicker. I do think it is healthier than potatoes, but potatoes are such a comfort food for me. I love roast potatoes, and fried mashed potato. I have recipes using both if you are interested on my website http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk

I really love butternut squash, but it is quite often too expensive for me to buy. I love potatoes as well though, and I have so many different ways of cooking them, I really cannot chose wich one I like the best. I love vegetables, and they are a part of our everyday meals, as I am a vegetarian I simply could not live without vegetables, and I find that there are so many different great tasting recipes.
