My computer = garbage

I've been having computer troubles for quite some time, for reference my computer is a HP Pavillion. None the less, it went wonky and I had to re-boot Windows XP only for my modem to stop working. I opened up the main drive system only for it to decide it was not going to power up any more. Needless to say, it's ridiculous and I give up.

I would love to help. But the information that you provided was a bit vague. If you could be more specific as to what things it were doing before you had to re-boot and lost your modem. Perhaps I / we could be of some assistance.

Basically, I opened up the hard drive thinking that maybe my modem card slid out or something being that I read about it happening somewhere else. Then I cleaned out the dust inside of it and I'm pretty sure if I unhooked something, I hooked it back directly where I unhooked it. But I'd appreciate any help on it. I definitely learned my lesson on trying to be Miss Fic It. Haha.

Did you unplug the power to the motherboard? If it's not lighting up at all, that's probably what happened to make it stop powering up. Open it up again and make sure that cluster of colored wires is plugged into the motherboard tightly.

i think your first problem was the driver of your modem, you might need to reinstall it cause it might be corrupted but that was before your problem got worst. ill have to agree with the other people who answered your problem, you have to check all the you have unplugged or removed were placed accordingly back to where it should be placed or connected. here's another question for you since its not also clear for me, when you mentioned that you have opened up the main drive system, do you mean the hard drive or the system unit only? because hard drives should not be opened up since its vacuum sealed and air should be able to enter the hard disk. i hope you did not open the hard drive since it would only increase your problem, you now have to replace it.
