I am not sure why but I have never seen the original Mr. and Mrs. Smith, It has a great rep. The other choices I have seen and are excellent. I am very fond of Casablanca in particular. It has such a great moody setting for what is essentially a love story.
I am a sucker for musical so Carousel is great fun as well. The Music Man, Oklahoma, South Pacific, and Li'l Abner are also favorites of mine.

The Kid (1921)
Safety Last (1923)
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
Rear Window (1954)
I wanted to include the original Nutty Professor but that was released in 1963 so doesn't count.
I also wanted to include North by Northwest but that was made in 1959 so doesn't count either.
