I think the Toshiba Satelites are the best ones I just bought a new one a few months ago but ive had an older toshiba about 7 years old. My dog ripped out the modem and its gotten dropped many many times and it still works even to this day. Also when I was in school i noticed I needed something with better durability and the Toshiba stands up durability wise.

No one laptop is better than another. All depends on what's inside. I have bought 2 laptops from E-bay and they are fabulous for the money. My most recent one was a P4 with XP Professional, 512 ram and 80 gig HD for $475 (delivered), built-in wireless.... really nice computer. I think the trick is to always 'contact the seller' and ask questions.....get the phone number BEFORE you bid..... I purchased one computer from someone who worked at Microsoft and another from a Grad student in Computer Science that just got an awesome job and a brand new laptop from her employer.....so these people knew their stuff..... You can learn a lot from a phone call..... The guy I bought the most recent from, cleaned the machine - reinstalled the OS - and was in perfect running order.
