How important is Television in your life?

How important do you think is television in oyur life?Recently,my TV remote stopped working for some reason. The only option left was to go to the tv, and manually adjust teh channels, the volume, etc. It was such a pain that Istopped watching tv entirely.Even my daughter got busy with her toys so it was not a problem.Inffact I enjoyed the silence and calm of mind so much that I wish I would never have to switch on the tv anymore.I realised that for me,it is a necessary eveil that interferes with my daily activities, and peace of mind.I can focus clearly on my work if the TV is not on all the time. What is your opinion?do you think you could live without TV for a week or even a day?share your opinions,my friends.Lets make this a lively discussion.

I think the television is very important thing in my life. There are some tv serieses that I like and want to watch every day. Also, the television is very important because I can learn and know new things from the television like news, history, sience etc... and I watch tv about 2-4 hours a day. I think the television is good for communication, learning, having fun and more, But I don't thing I couldn't live without television. Sometimes I don't watch tlevision so much because I have other things to do. furthermore, on Saterdays (Shabat) the Jewish religion forbids watching television because it's a sacred day for the jews.

Hmm, you are saying the ture thing. TV is very important in our life. That is why almost every family have at least one TV set. People can learn and know old or new things from TV. And of course we can live without TV. Such as those students like me, there isn't a TV set in each dormitory. We just get information from the sites and other people. And it's impossible for me to watch TV or use the computer in the most of time, because I have other things to do too. But I still hope that I can watch TV when I wnat to watch. I like to watch TV in my spare time.

I guess I am hooked on TV because I just went 2 months without one and it drove me nuts! My old 19 inch went out and it took the 2 month to save up so I could get a new one. I was so desperate for some TV that I was even (listening) to it on my old radio that has some TV channels! Now is that desperate or what?!!!

he he he..now that IS desperate,I agree:)

Professionally, very important, because I write for a publication that reports on and awards television shows and actors and people behind the shows. On the personal front, I rarely watch anything, I'd rather surf the net or listen to good music.

I hardly watch any at the moment as my time is spent more on here and every where else lol. I do watch a lot of news when I am with my Beloved in the U.S as he hosts a political/currant affairs TV show once a week so I have to watch the news a lot to help him with it. I watch the odd film sometimes just to veg out and chill and I am a kung fu movie buff. I also like my Bollywood as I am quite an exotic bird. When I am at my parent's place and I chill over there as my dad doesn't let me go on the comp for too long I tend to watch the Greek Telly with them and also I enjoy the discovery and History channels. I get bored when my mum wants to watch all the Greek Gossip shows for too long a stretch so that's when I disappear and go off and do some tai ji lol.

Hmm,you have a point there,so can;t argue with you either!:)

during the week the my time is spent on the computer, however the tv plays a big part in my life at the weekend because there are usually loads of football games on and programs i want to watch, i cannot live without a tv in winter because there is noting else to do, you can't go out anywhere because it is to cold and wet, without tv my life would be boring.

I can live without it. Except for an occasional movie, I sometimes go for days without watching the TV. It is such a lifeless engagement, just sitting there and staring blankly at some of the garbage they put on the tube. I am very sure I could get by just fine without it. I never watch the news and there are few shows worth my time. When you get down to it, there are a million other things in life so much more important. Anyway, I can hardly remember what I watched yesterday, let alone a week or month ago.

I hate TV !!! There is only media, you cant choose your program. I prefer Internet because you can choose your website to follow the news

Television is very important to me as i will have at least two to three hours to watch the television. I mean I can still live without a television, but my life will be more wonderful if I can watch more TV programs everyday. I must watch the news program to keep up with what happen in Australia and in the world so that i will not be outdated, sometimes i will watch some documentaries about medical knowledge or some talk shows from the America. Most of the time I am watching the televisio nwhen I am on the intenet at the same time.

I generally have the TV on while I am browsing the internet. But I can't do the two things at a time. How do you keep your attention focussed on both at the same time?

I think television is still one of the past times we consider necessary today. There are still a lot of shows worth watching and a lot of information to be gained by watching televisions. Although I rarely watch televisions now, being busy and mostly using the computer and Internet, I still think televisions are important. I could live without it for a certain amount of time, but I hope it won't be for long.

It is important to me as I get to know all thats happening around the world and get to see all the matches I like to watch. Ofcourse, too much of it is bad. I try to less of it now and spend more time on productive work although it's a bit difficult.

Telivision is important to our life now. Why I said like that?? Because if we have television, we can receive the important news from television. Television also allowed us to have fun. If we had a lot of problem and stress we can watch television to release our tension. Moreover, I think without television, our life is not complete. What do you think?? But, television also have its benefit.

Television is a very important part of my life. Whenever i am at home i spend my time watching movie channels. Its difficult to think life without tv. Even if i find ways to pass my time in the evenings then still i cannot got to sleep without watching tv. It has become my habit to watch tv late night and go to sleep thereafter. Its difficult to sleep without watching movies. So my happiness of life depends on Television.

I think that is always possible. NO watching tv? that would be fine to me. I haven't watch tv for the last 6 months. Maybe its because i lost faith with the media people. I buy DVDs or watch amovie in a movie house if i want to but not on TV. Before I used to watch all the time but the news makes me feel bad always and gives me the hot temper that i don;t usually like.I have always asked myself to when will this bad publicity and bad news in the news end. Are there any goodnews anymore in this country? I guess i just got fed up and i stopped watching TV. Now, i am at peace and i relly don't care about what they show. Now i don't get angry anymore. Goodluck!

OK, when I was a child, my parents gave me a schedule, I was permitted to watch TV only in the weekends, and must study within other times, so I always was longer for watching TV. But now, I can get almost all news on the web, I can enjoy many many programs and films on the web, etc. All in a word, I've not need TV as before since I had notebook and web.

Well, I love watching TV. Every Friday afternoon I would turn on the TV set as soon as I come home from the university. I like many kinds of programmes, such as TV plays, movies, entertaining programmes, etc. I really enjoy it, and if the TV set is off when I am having meals at home, I would feel lack of something. However, I don't think I cannot live without TV. There are no TV sets in my school and we can lead our life perfectly as well. We have more time to paticipate in the various activities and we can do more valueable things instead of watching TV just for relaxing. So in my opinion, TV is lovely, but that doesn't mean it's vital.
