To blog, or not to blog- that ought not to be a question.

I've just been wading through the various rituals involved in setting up a blog. The first efforts came up with arguably some of the lousiest layout I've ever seen on any document, huge gaps between paragraphs, and some really awful font which I hope I never see again. The other two blog formats just wouldn't activate. Added to which I got the quite unacceptable choice of making this mess the home page. No way, nohow, was that ever going to happen. My website, http://sydneymediajam.com, is basically one big blog, anyway. So here's the question, bloggers and blogees: Is blogging worth the effort? If something is advertised on a blog, do you rush out and buy it, or rush out and swear never to look at it? Is it a forum, or a sort of shared ego trip? Ranting in public, but at a distance? If so, I can do that here... not that my non-existent ethics would allow me such self indulgence...
