Why don't kids have respect for adults anymore?

Kids haven't been taught to respect their elders or parents. Kids nowadays have no respect because moms have left the home to go to work and the kids are normally left by themselves or at a daycare center where they aren't taught any respect. Look at the way society is today- is there any respect for anyone any more? We need to get back to the morals and the lifestyle that we had in the 50's where kids could be spanked and taught to respect others!!

I think this is a problem throughout society and goes along with many other problems. There's a lot that contributes to it, but in short, I think that many parents don't teach their kids to be respectful or anyone or anything, and they don't expect their kids to be respectful. It's not the kids fault that nobody ever taught them or expected anything from them.

Not all kids are like that...Mine arent...They are always the type to help ppl, hold the door, use their manners etc...Thats how I've raised them to be and thats the key...Unfortunately so many kids today are pretty much raising themselves really (I know far too many latchkey kids) so they arent being taught these things...Not to mention, lets face it, how many kids are being raised with respect..Everyone is so quick to say that kids today lack respect etc etc which is true BUT how much respect are these kids given in the first place ya know..The only reason the kids have changed is because parenting has changed IMO

not every child is like that , these occur in some cases, for which we have to teach them in good manner, being its responsible of parents to do it they have correct them at the spot when they do it.

yeah, i've heard so many about this in the news. I think probably kids be friends with the bad boys in school and they follow their bad boys friends attitude. The other thing is they follow the attitude in the movie or in the tv show. Well, this is my opinion. I'm sorry if anyone didn't agree with me.
