Size Zero (O) - The great debate

April 14, 2007 5:47pm CST
There is a growing trend happening in Fashion Right Now - The desire to be a size Zero, its not just models or film stars, these people are our neighbours and our friends. The trend to be Ultra thin was started on the fashion Catwalks, where painfully thin fashion icons strutted there skin & bones down the runways in Paris & Milan. These Models have a dangerous influence on young women who see this as the 'Ideal'. Are Media Personalitys like Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie etc to blame for Eating Disorders? Victoria is said to have the same size waist measurements as the average 7 year old Boy - Should we boycott her fashion designs for this reason or is there another answer? What do you think? Do you want to be a Zero?

I wouldn't automatically assume that just because someone is a size zero, that they have an eating disorder. My daughter is naturally a size zero and she eats like a normal person. However, I do agree with you that the role models that our kids look up to are way too thin and the examples you mention are dangerous role models for young girls.
