Do you believe in "DesTiny"? what really lies behind this....

Many people always talks about destiny. They say that every people do have its own destiny. But how?where? and when? can you say that its already your destiny with someone?
Are we really the one building it? is it through our choice we make? Or no matter what we really have ouw own DESTINY??

I do not believe in destiny, if I did it would make my life mapped out even though I can't see the map.
If it were true I would give up trying to make decisions today. What use is an intellect and a free-will if you are subject to a bigger force.
Please, no-one retort with a ridiculous pseudo-philosophical reason why.
(edit) Nightwind, are you not just saying the same thing, what's the difference between purpose and destiny? They both infringe upon freedom of thought and action.
