Blowing off a candle is comsidered unauspicous in Hindu belief. Candle cteates Agni which is considered one of the Gods. Evey auspicous event starts with creating fire, burning a lamp. a candle of firewood for Havan. Blowing off Agni at such an event is a disrespect to God Agni. We in our house burn a diya and candle and put them in the temple. Then we cut the cake and party goes on. Do you blow off the candle?
