How old were you when you stopped playing with toys/dolls?

How old were you when you stopped playing with your toys/dolls. Toys are an instrument that help us create our special make belief world. We all know that babies and young children are considerably dependent on toys for their recreation since they are too young to interact with with their actual people in their baby language. So they create their own imaginative world and see their toys as live objects with which they interact. In today's fast paced world where people are unable to give their valuable time to their kids,I don't think its a bad idea to play with toys. They are good stress busters just like watching cartoons. Many big girls still keep their suffed toys in their rooms. Do you remember at which age you stopped playing with them? Do you still like to play?Lol

I still play with different toys till today. yes, i know that i am already thirty four years old, but i believe that if a person has an urge to play, then it is something that he has to do and it is not going to do any good if he ignores what he wants. i know a lot of adults that still like to play with different toys, i know that people are aware of that all over the world, and because of that there were toys that were invented especially for adults. About Dolls, i think i stopped playing with them at a very early age, because i really do not remember them, even though my mother is always telling me about this special doll, that i liked very much.

Toys for adults? That's good news. Now I won't have to worry at a later stage too. Oh,I must say,I was not expecting so many people liking and playing with toys even as adults. There's a child within every person, now this phrase makes sense even more.Lol You have very rightly mentioned that ignoring what we want is not going to do any good. So,here's wishing "happy playing" to all the people like you and me.:)

I played with dolls and kitchen sets till 14.Still i have my favourite baby doll and the kitchen set in my show case. Its a sweet memeory for me.I dotn mind playing with dolls even at this grown up age. But nowadays we can see kids playing only computer games and very rarely they are opting for any outdoor games.First thing is they dont have time to play whenever they get some holidays parents are insisting their children to learn some new things and joining them in some classes.

i will say that it is sad if children will no longer enjoy playing with toys. if children get along together with their toys and play around, that is their best way of socializing with their peer group. computer games are fine, but the gaming hours of our kids must not be limited to computer games only.

Computer games are very interesting but addictive.I also feel playing outdoors and with your age kids is a better way for alround development.

I was about 16, I think, when I finally gave up my Barbies. I didn't start playing with them until the age most girls stop (around 11 or 12). Then I made a friend that was 5 years younger then me and she made me feel much younger then I was. We used the dolls to act out stories we had in our heads (we called each day a new "episode"). I would probably still do that if I had all my Barbies (I had about 40 of them in total). I think they are a great tool to help me develop stories in my head (I'm a writer).

O yes,we too played party-party and guest-host with Barbies. My Uncle had gifted me a big Doll's house which had every kind of mini furnitures and that used to be our background setting for the plays we acted out.Lol Wow!It's great to know that you are writer. My mom writes too.:)

I think I graduated from toys to more interesting games like Scotlandyard ( a detective game ),battlecity and monopoly around 14 years. My toys were mostly hotwheel cars ,robots or the He-man,bat-man toys.I still play my mobile games and a few computer games.Even now, when my brothers get together,we sometimes play Scotlandyard.

I think I stopped playing with toys when I was about 10 years old. By that age, I started to move into the video game arena and I just completely forgot about playing with my toys. I never really had toys, they were more like electronic stuff like radio player, CD player, laptops, and other electronic stuff like that. I don't think I ever played with the traditional action figure toys. I guess those things just never really interested me too much.

i am 25y/o now but i still have my dolls and still play with them when i have the time to spare. I play them with my nieces because they were so fond of my sylvanian family collection but im a bit worried that they may not be able to play with my very small stuff with care. i love my dolls and even plan to have a bigger collection when i get married. my boyfriend even contributes with it.. hehehe... i love dolls. and i still wish i will have the days to play with my grand kids.. LoL! By The way, i also plan to collect construction toys (except LEGO)... i plan to because at my age, i still love to play whenever i get home to my mom's place where my toys are...

I'd say I havent yet and I'm 27. I collect plush monkeys, beanie babies, garfields, and other stuff. ALL toys. I love toys. Mostly 80s and monkeys. Its insane I know. And when I marry what will I do with SO MANY TOYS? But I dont care! I have always been a big kid and I want to always be no matter what my age. I dont think I'd ever stop playing with toys truly. Recently I got back into play-doh. Fun stuff even for a 27 yr old :))

Actually I never stop playing with toys. When I was small, my parents bought me toys, and when I grew up I share with other children, and when I became father,I shared the toys with my children and I'll share them with my grandchildren. New toys appear all the time, and I am never tired of them.

thats such a sweet reply. nobody ever gets tired with toys, its just that we get tired of other things and hence are not able to take out time to play with toys when we grow up. but its so nice to know that there are child-like people like you. thanks for the response:D

seeing your discussion made me happy and smile. this is simply because, until now at above 50 years old, i still love to have some toys around. i keep with me some stuffed toys of my kids, they are all grown up now, and some race cars. there are times when the entire family will be spending some fun time together playing with the stuffs.

I think I was about 11 when I stopped playing with dolls. Whenever I started junior high. I thought it was time to grow up and would be embarrased if my friends would see me with toys lol. Now that I have a daughter I can still play with toys with her or rather she wants me to. I don't mind b/c alot can be learned through play and thats the whole reason I give her toys to play with. Same goes with disney movies I always loved watching them never grew out of that. As soon as one comes out I try and get it. Flushed away seems to be her favorite.
