I just moved to Georgia, what do I do now?

I just moved to Valdosta, GA. I'm originally from Texas, and i'm completely lost on what I need to be doing here. The trees are huge here, and there is spanish moss everywhere. I haven't got a clue on where to go, or what there is to do here. Have you ever been here? What do you like best about it? Where are the hot spots here, and what are they called? Do you think that its a good place to raise children? I'm just looking for some word of advice from someone that lives here or used to live here.
