One can see lot of people urinating in public places which is a most common sight in our country India. But think of the girls and women who cross by these people they feel real embrassment. It is unhygenic to do this job.It happens outside railway stations and bus stops specially.Spend a small sum why dont these people use the public and private toilets which is found in almost all the public places. While waiting for bus or train one has to tolerate this bad smell and stand there. Its disgusting and we cant help this as we are forced to wait there only. What do you feel about this issue? Do you see people urinating in public in your country? Is there any sort of punishment given to the people who get caught?

I think this is totally discusting. I dont even like children peeing in public. I know sometimes that they cant wait, fair enough. But some think it is a game, and this isnt right. Here in Australia, you dont see it much, unless on highways where no toilets available. It is also against the law here to urinate in public and you can be fined. Im not sure what the fine is but i have heard of people being charged.

yes, there are some countries where people who do this are being fined. i hope that this measure shall be adopted throughout the world. this is such an unhealthy habit and there is no reason for it really if women can find proper places to pee. if women can find proper places for doing so, then men can surely find theirs, too.

Oh my god! I agree it's not hygiene at all! Our citizens don't do that on the street, but I am annoyed by some tourists around here. The mothers indeed encourage the sons to "pee" in public (I have seen so many of those and some of them even ask the sons to pee in the mall!!!!). I know they are kids but still I think the mothers should teach them to hold on a bit and find a decent washroom (we have so many decent ones with walking distance). I don't like them to "pollute" our city like that and it's really dirty! It's not good for the general public's health and I feel really sorry for those old people who are responsible to clean the streets everyday. The urine can spread germs and diseases! We are a really crowded city, once some weird diseases are spread out, we all are likely to catch it. I think it's totally unacceptable act! It's not considerate and irresponsible. Sorry that I might sound very "excited" but I just can't tolerate people doing the "private thing" in public!

You have raised a very valid point and a very good discussion. It is really disgusting and disappointing that people urinate in the open space, without bothering about others. Even if a toilet is nearby...they are too lazy to use it. It is getting worse day by day. People should know that how bad it looks to women when they see such things in public placed. These people need to be discouraged and punished for their act in public place.

Urinating in the public place is of course a nuisance. Many people used to do such things. there are some reasons .. There are no sufficient places provided in developed towns and cities. It is imopossible for the people who are suffering from dibetes, who have the urge of attending toilet frequently, which may or may not possible . secondly The government spends crores and crores for building of public purposes but ignore the minimum facility of toilets for the people coming to those offices. In a collector"s office there are twenty seven departments and many people has to go there. the departmental officers are provided with toilets, but what about the public.? People have to stay hours together there, but there is not provision for toilets for public. Though there are some toilets, which are very ugly and inhygenic due to imporoper maintenance of toilets. Even in bus stations, there is no cleanliness maintained in toilets in A.p.I do not support or deny the public urination as it involes circumstantial instances.

Personally i will agree to what has been written. At first thing is there arent many comfort stations. If at all there is one I have not found any place which is not dirty and stinking. Of cource if you are having a very bad cold your nostrils will automatically open up. So if you dont have cold why pay a small sum and feel the stench?. Before blaming the public enough and clean public toilets should be provided at convenient places.

Yes it is quite embarassing specially to the females. Though sometimes it is because of the habit of men but sometimes it becomes a neccessity . I have seen many women also urinating in the public though such cases are quite few. I think the main cause is lack of awareness , lack of toilets in the public places and no punishment for doing such things. For stopping these things first the government should build public toilets as per the demand and also maintain them also. Then they should punish and fine the persons urinating in the public. Then only I think these things will stop and help in making the cities clean.

Urinating in Public places - A boy passing urinals at a public place.
I can understand what you meant to say, not only women and girls guys do don't like that. I Guess there are a lot of public pay and use toilets and they can make use of them. But i don't find any sanitation in those pay and use toilets. At least the municipality people should take some action in this case. Let share one incident when i was at Thambaram Railway station and i had one of the guys from my college with me, I was there to reserve tickets for out journey which we have planned for that weekend. I was in the queue and he said he will be back in a minute. He didn't return for more than 3 hours and by the time my reservation was done i was almost exhausted. I called one of my room mates and inquired about this guy and said that he dint return. I tried to call his mobile and that was switched off. I waited in front of the station for another 30 minutes and then thought of leaving to my room, i was about to collect some change from the pan shop and my friend appeared in real distorted condition. What happened was he was there peeing near to the Thambaram Railway Station, Police booth and they arrested him and after knowing that he is a College student they left him after collecting a fine of 300/-. I guess that way people will be afraid of peeing in the public.

i agree with you, to see people urinating in public places is really disgusting. for me the one who must do the move to keep people not doing it is the government itself particularly the local government. i think they are the ones responsible in making laws and mean it so that people will follow. its a small problem but there are some people who just dont care with this. i just hope each one of us not just in ur country but also mine would watch themselves and go the the proper places where a particular thing should do just like urinating.

yes, i also see some people in my country who has the habit of urinating in public. this is difficult to understand why men do so. for sure, there are places where they can urinate as women can always find one whenever we get the feel as regards the need to unload. women can never be seen just peeing about anywhere at all. i even complained about the habit of some neighbors peeing at the electric posts or the fence of some properties. of course, they have houses nearby, yet instead of peeing in their toilets, they just go about anywhere. these men must be given some disciplinary actions so that they will no longer be doing this thing anywhere at all other than in designated places.

Yeah i know the feeling. Here in our country as well, there are people who urinate anywhere, even in public places. The problem here in our country is that there aren't any public toilets. There are only a few private toilets.

ewwww this is f**king disguisting.those ppl arent civic-minded at all.in china, only beggars and tramps would do that.they tend to do it only in telephone box, which makes their awful behaviour less exposed.as a result, few ppl dare to use public telephone now since it smells so badly.actually even spitting makes me feel disguisting.i think civic education for these ppl is strongly needed.

I guess you can't bash people who are urinating in public just like that... Not each country is that very well developed and not everyone has the luxury of affording it even in public places that charge you to discharge urself !! Its a Fact... reality might bite.. someone in the post also said people in BMW also do it !! wow is it lack of awarenes .. or i suppose TOO much awareness that still they tend to do the disgusting thing...!!

I totally agree, that is the most disgusting thing, for someone to urinate in public.I know several spots that guys do that in the summer or spring, because they are too darn lazy to go to the restroom.the when the sun hits that spot,it leaves the worse smell.anyone caught doing that should spend a night in jail.that will give them something to think about.

It happens all the time in my country, it's disgusting! Just this past Friday we walked past a man who was urinating against a tree next to a busy road, he didn't care who saw him. Worst of all are the churches and some other buildings like our railway station, certain men just continue to urinate against them which causes a horrible smell. Sometimes you need to avoid the huge puddles of urine streaming down the street, it's really nasty and I'm sure there is some sort of punishment, it's just that the police are never around at the right time.

I know exactly what you mean. I hate it when people do that, especially in an elevator in a parking lot....euuwwyhh. That's really gross. Sometimes, I just can't avoid using it since I have my daughter stroller with me. I didn't dare to stand to close to those tiny elevator wall and I have to hold my breath to my way up. The moment I got out, I'll immediately find a toilet to wash my hands even though I didn't touch anything. Well, if this wild piss got caught, they will certainly get a big fine or end up couple of night in a hotel jail. Wild piss is strickly forbidden here but yet, you'll still find stinky smelly corner. Sometimes I saw public urinoir placed outside but when people got drunk or high, they can't tell the difference, can they ?!?

This is really disgusting. This is also a problem in our country. I am from the Philippines and it's one traits of the Filipino men that cannot be given any solution because they just don't listen. I hope our government would penalize those who are urinating in public to stop this. People would only listen when they know punishment is given to those who are law breakers. I just hope Filipino men would learn to discipline themselves. It just takes a little effort to look for public toilets or comfort rooms to have a pee.

Well being in Canada its not all that bad but I guess it depends where you live. Dont get me wrong people do it here but its not out of control like for example when people come out of the bars they go behind the building and go and even one time early morning in Toronto I was in a truck with my friend and we pulled up at a red light and right there a girl pulled down her underware and started urinating right at the lights. I cant believe people are so disgusting. Im sure their are fines here for that kind of behaviour but I have never heard of anyone getting busted fo it.
