i used to run to school 3 miles there and three miles back, mostly up hill back to home, in the evening i'd run 2.5 miles to the girlfriends and the same on my return. i had joined the martial arts classes, enrolled in gymnastics, and the weight lifting classes, and was in pretty descent shape. after leaving school i no longer attended gymnastics or martial arts, but continued weightlifting until a few years ago.i owned and operated an aerobics and weightlifting business for a short period of time. my exercise now consists of much less fatigueing workouts. i'm on my feet all day, i guess you could say i still run, not for endurance but because the job requires it. oh i still chase my dog now and then when she gets loose, shes like a rabbit running scared. half a block is the best i can do now. how i wish for my younger years, and the shape i was in

I know I don't get as much exercise as I should. It seems nearly every day I say I am going to do something, work out, lift weights, ride stationary bike, go for a walk (weather permitting). But, every day it seems something comes up, I'm sick, or I just forget about it... I really do need to get active and do something regularly, maybe I should try going to the gym at least a couple times a week. Anything!

Now that I live downtown, I can take the bus into the centre of town and walk anywhere from there, or take another bus to the mall and walk from one end to the other. I find I walk a lot more now that I live down here and can walk everywhere, than I did when I lived on the other side of town and had to get a ride everywhere.

Well gosh your way to the over achiever side aren't you? I am lucky to get to walk to the lunchroom and back. I have great intentions but then I work my 12 hours and I am so tired I can't even find the energy to walk on the treadmill for 20 mins. I wish I had started that mindset earlier in my life and made it a priority. I am sure paying that price now, with Arthritis, and weight gain, and lethargic behavior. Good for you for making it such an important goal in your life.

yes my mom's the same way. oops. she has diabetes, arthritis, heart condition, bad hips, and obese, shes 80 years young last week.still has the same outlook on life she ever had, except for a small part of it. she feels she can't make any difference in her longevity, but i know she can. stop eating chocolate cake, and doughnuts, don't sit out the dance, grab a partner and doe see doe, and try some glucosemine for the arthur, i have it too

Uumm...looking down at my belly I would have to say no. I use to run all the time before I had kids, but now I usually get up at 5am so I can exercise before the kids get up. But I know I am not foinf enough because my belly isn't getting any smaller!! I need to step it up a bit!!
