I just had a discussion with a friend of mine on the subject of okra and she said she fries it and it tastes really good. I've always heard that it's slimy and doesn't taste so good. I'm curious to know how many of you like it, and how do you cook it?

Okra is either on of those food you hate or you like, lol. I really don't care for it, and will only eat it if it is fried. I've made mine with a cornmeal batter and then fried in very hot oil. Now, my teenage son, absolutly LOVES okra. He's the only one in the family that really does.

I know okra is very high in iron and vitamin A. I am not sure about other nutrients or vitamins though, sorry.

Thank you for all of your input so far. I think I might fry it and give it a try. Now, does anybody know what vitamins okra contains?

I like okra, even though its a bit slimy. My wife cooks it boiled to minimize its slimyness(?) and we dip it in a shrimp paste called "Bagoong". Yummy!

I really like it. I have only had it prepared one way though. It was done in a tempura batter and friend quickly in the very hottest of oil and then served with sour cream and vegetables. I enjoyed the taste much like zucchini to me. which is kind of slimy i guess but i liked the texture. Cheryl
