Do you actually rate discussions/ responses?

I'm VERY new to mylot and really love it so far. I've found some incredibly interesting and intelligent discussion topics, and even more really fun ones. I was curious about the plus and minus signs next to everyone's discussion, so asked you all what that was about. When I heard that you actually get some points for being positively rated, I immediately went back to my favorite discussions and rated them with a plus sign. My questions to all you mylotters is... do you regularly rate discussions topics/responses, or is that just gravy? And how much does it matter to you if you get a positive response/rating or none at all? I get a lonely feeling when I look at a post that has yet to solicit a response!

I always try to keep up with my discussions and those I respond to both by commenting and rating.
I just wish somebody would rate me a few times so I get get past the unlucky number 93!
I rhink the rating system is also a way for mylot to monitor bad content, as well as giving users a "reputation". yaya

Yes, I like to be what I call a "complete user". That is, I do everything that is required on this site. I believe you get credit for everything you do. Some people have come up with what they think is the formula regarding how much you get paid. But, I just know that I have been getting paid more since I started rating everyone.
I try to rate everyone and I usually give them a positive rating. I even rate people on discussions that I don't even respond to.

I actually rate all the discussion and replies i like , not much into giving negative reputation atleast havent given one yet, but those i like i rate them positively all the time and always rate positively to the responses i get for my discussions whether in agreement or vice versa i give all of them positive repute for participating and acknowledging.

What do they actully do? this is my question? same with the stars I see by peoples names. I m trying to understand Mylot I am a new user and I would like to show my appreciation to the people that have the discussions with me. If someone could help me out that would be awesome.
