2. sbeauty (4251) | 3 years ago | I think so many voted for George W. because they considered the other choice worse. Where do they get some of these guys they expect people to vote for?
| |
| |
| iggy77 (65) | 3 years ago | Probably. People shouldnt rag on any president, I think they do there best, although some are probably pure evil.
| |
sbeauty (4251) | 3 years ago | There have been bad presidents over the years as well as in any other profession. In my mind, though, a president that doesn't take the well-being of his people to heart isn't doing the best he could do.

4. bhbirdie6 (1453) | 3 years ago | Because he was running against John Kerry... honestly... would you want someone who had no idea of what he stood for other than that he was anti-Bush?
| |
| |
| Proserpine (83) | 3 years ago | Kerry's main fault was that he could not relate to "average" Americans, and they could not relate to him. Plus the repubs burned him in political advertising that was sickening to watch. Kerry fought in Vietnam, was decorated as a hero for saving a life when he could well have been killed, voted against the war in Iraq, has fought to get more and better body armor for troops in Iraq, fought to raise life-insurance pay-outs to families of fallen troops, and fought for better health care for those troops who have been maimed for life in Iraq. Just what has Bush done for the troops to match this even one iota? He never saw combat in his life, neither did Rumsfeld, nor Cheney. This is why they went to war with absolutely no thought to the human consequences: they have never seen it up close and personal, or had to live with the nightmares afterwards. War sucks. War is awful. War is not a game. War should only be entered upon as a very last resort. Kerry knows this first hand, Bush, unfortunately, does not. related resource: personal care

| jolie112006 (86) | 3 years ago | Are you serious, proserpine? Kerry just made the comment what he thinks of our troops. Something to the effect of if you want to succeed and not end up in Iraq make good grades. Where is he now? In a closet. Everyone is after him. Oh but he did apologize befor he went into hiding. None of the military like him because he sells them out. As far as those things he did, that was the Democrat machine behind the scenes doing those things. They just stuck their hope to be president name on it. No, I'll not stand behind somebody, that said our men and women who are fighting our war on terrorism, are stupid. I'm listening to his blunder on the news right now as we speak. Turn it on.

| Proserpine (83) | 3 years ago | Yes I am serious. We had a lot of discussion on this site last night about what Kerry said. Sorry you missed it. It was quite lively and we all learned a lot about the facts. Kerry made a huge blunder, but never meant to attack the troops. He was attacking the president, but it came out of his mouth wrong and he has since apologized for saying what he said wrong. He often says things wrong, and that is why he is now being quiet, or is "in the closet" as you so rightly put it, because the dems asked him to do them a favor and not say anything else wrong! And they are right: be quiet, Kerry, because you often mess up your words! He was referring to education being important so that we do not in the future make mistakes like those made in Iraq. What he was saying is that History will repeat itself if we do not educate ourselves on what came before, what went wrong, ect. You can believe that or not, it's your right. But what you can't deny is Kerry's past and his record in office. He fought in combat in Vietnam, and even won medals for valor, as he saved another man's life at risk to his own life. And he has since fought for things for the troops in Iraq nobody else would fight for: more body armor to protect troops' lives. More pay to widows and widowers of those killed in action in Iraq. More and better health care for those maimed in Iraq. This is public record, open for all eyes to see, should you care to investigate. And why didn't the president and his administration offer these things up to the troops themselves? I mean, they deserved them in the first place, didn't they, for all their sacrifice?
| |
| jolie112006 (86) | 3 years ago | You keep saying "more this and more that", evidently the president did do something for these causes. You can't get more from nothing.

mgmagana (1945) | 3 years ago | well every 1 has said things they regret because they came out wrong! but either way, we have not had any winner president/ alternative recently! no matter democrat/rebulican, it's sad because now it seems like everything political is just shady, whether the gov't or a lil league sports team! we should have bill maher be president! or maybe california's governator, or hilary clinton!! yay make a woman president! see we need to seek better alternatives!

5. claudia413 (2541) | 3 years ago | Some people will vote only along their political party's line and not vote for a candidate of the other party...even if that other candidate is better. Also, there's that problem of the chads in Florida (where I live) and other irregularities in other states. Maybe that many people didn't vote for him after all.

| iggy77 (65) | 3 years ago | Well if not thay many voted for him, how did he get elected twice? I just don't think they could make the same mistake twice, thats just ignorant. I don't think America is ignorant...atleast not all of us.

8. tentwo67 (2365) | 3 years ago | I can only respond for myself, not for the people who voted for him. I live in a strongly Republican state and I have always been firmly un-Republican. I have therefore held my tongue about political issues, particularly in the seven years I worked for a very conservative bank. It's not that I am ashamed of my beliefs, just didn't see the need to get into any arguments or debates about it. But I made an exception at work during the last presidential elections when I told my boss, "I have never in my life voted for anyone named Bush and I'm not about to start now." I think that the President has developed a talent for tapping into people's fears and has parlayed that into a political career. I think he is strangely arrogant and quite ineffective. I mean, he's the leader of the free world and can't even speak proper English half of the time. In all honesty, if gas still sold for $1.00 a gallon instead of $3.00, I wouldn't care that much about his "Gomer"-like tendencies. I still wouldn't care for him, but if he was an effective leader then whatever. I think that the Republican party and particularly him have made a habit of concealing and covering up that which they think (rightly so) will make them look bad. Then when they're found out they try to act like it's no big deal. But they can't wait to throw stones at the Democrats. And I think that he is the poster child for all of this.

| iggy77 (65) | 3 years ago | I think people hear other people talking crap about him, so, like most people, they follow everyone else, instead of sticking with there own ideas. I don't think people should vote for some one just because they're of the same party as they are. they should vote because they agree with what the person stands for. I just recently turned 18 so I havent even voted yet, but when I do I'm not going to vote for some one just be cause there republican, I'm going to vote for the person I think will make a great president.
| |
tentwo67 (2365) | 3 years ago | I can't speak for everyone but personally I have always tried to make up my own mind about things, and not blindly follow a party line. And on the subject of George W Bush, I have felt the same way about him since before he was president. I think that the day he became president was a dark day for the country and hopefully better days will come.

mgmagana (1945) | 3 years ago | u're right, about not voting for parties, here in california, we r a democratic state, but this is the second term in a row we voted for a republican ( arnold schwarznegger ) because the first term we didn't have issues with him, he's doing a good job, and he has 2 sided views, tho being a republican he has the kennedy's behind him who r a democratic family, so i think arnold is a great governer!

| 10. Montalvo13 (39) | 3 years ago | i think not that many people voted for him..somehow someone hacked us over with the electrical votes and those missing chads in florida over the years. Gore got robbed. I didnt vote for him. ive been finding out the ones who did vote for him are now regreting it..pretty sad people! also alot of the voters were the evangelicals..christian folks..they thought ending gaay marriage was more important than the War. go figure.
