One of the Pillars of Islam is to give Charity willfully.

Now this doesnt mean you must give away money everyday. Charity can be a smile to a stranger or friend, giving food and/or water to an animal that has none, helping someone without accepting compensation, making a crying baby smile again, comforting an old person in pain.

I often clip coupons I dont need and place them next to the groceries while I shop so someone else can benefit from it. I feed the outdoor birds and water them as well as the stray cats in the alley during the winter. I buy cheap dog bisquits and throw to dogs behind fences as I roll past in my wheelchair throughout our small town to the stores.

A few decades ago while I was getting my Education degree in college, I would midwife for the poor people in the backwoods of Alabama and would not accept wages. How they found out I was a former Army nurse I never knew. They would come to my door and I would follow them to the mother-to-be. Sometimes my old van would have garden fresh vegetables or fruits or freshly butchered meats which I would take back, cook and share what I couldnt fit in my tiny college dorm frig. Later, when I worked as the dorm director, I had a bigger apartment and after opening my interior door I would find sacks of apples, sweet potatoes and potatoes and many times homebaked goods would greet me stacked on the floor. One morning after waking up to go to my office with only 2 hours sleep (I delivered twins that night) I found old mason jars filled with beautiful Autumn wildflowers on every table (12) in the dorm lounge. My students were fascinated by all the "blessings".

All blessings come from being charitable. Make sure you do some Charity everyday to please the Lord.

Giving charity is really great, but one thing you must keep in mind is, while giving something in charity your left hand must not know what your right hand has done, in the sense it must be done secretly, so that Allah only knows what you have done, and not your friend or neighbor,as giving charity is not making show of your money or any thing like that which makes a person proud of himself, what you do how you do it, you will be rewarded accordingly

It is very true that charity does not have to be in the form of money. Many people have no money to give, but can still do many charitable acts to help others.

I do give to charity. I can not afford to give money but I do donate my familys clothes that do not fit to Salvation Army or Purple Heart. I do the coupon thing quite often also, I also play taxi to friends and family members alot and I am friendly to others always. You should treat others the way you would like to be treated.
