What is with Walmart

I went to Walmart last night looking for a video game that was supposed to be out last week (I have learned from past experience that even though they advertise a certain game or movie, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be in the store when they say it will) and it still wasn't on the shelves. I took the time this week to ask a sales associate (that took 10 minutes for them to notice me standing right in front of them-because they were to busy with the one customer that was just standing there looking at cell phones) what the deal was with the video games and why they were never out when they say they are going to be there. Now I am not always going by the actual release date of an item but the date the Walmart themselves say they will be there. I was told "We have nothing to do with the advertising or what gets put out in the electronics department, that is Corporate". When I asked when the item I was looking for would be there, I got the exact same response. Four different sales associates in the electronics department told me this exact same thing. Of course I missed the department manager by "10 minutes" according to the clerks so I couldn't get an answer there. And the store manager himself was about as useful as the grumpy old man at the door greeting only the old people that came into the store, and gave the younger crowd dirty looks. I have always been under the impression that Walmart was all about pleasing their customers. I wasn't very pleased last night let me tell you. I have offically decided that I will no longer shop the Walmart Electronics department and I will take that business elsewhere. So they lose out on the four games, 4 movies, $160 in cell phone calling cards and whatever accesories that I buy for my game systems or my dvd players. I need a new surround sound dvd player, I won't be getting it at Walmart. I think I will shop Target from now on. Atleast they have what they advertise when they advertise it. I ended up going there last night and getting the exact game that I wanted, for the same price that Walmart was advertising it for. My questions to you all are: 1) Have you ever had a bad experience at Walmart? 2) How did you handle the situation? (Speak to store manager, call the corporate office) 3) How was your complaint handled (did they fix the problem etc). I am trying to find out what my next step should be to notify them of my displeasure. Even though I know it is a huge company, and they probably don't care in the least about little old me from podunk, usa. But if I don't atleast attempt to do something, it will eat at me-I have trouble letting things go, especially when I expect something to be there and it isn't and all I get when I talk to sales associates is "I don't know", "I can't help you", "That isn't my department". Thanks in advance to all who respond with your opinions and please have a better day than me. ;)

I've always had good experiences at Wal-Mart especially in the electronics department. I get all the new DVD's there, they always seem to have lots in stock and you can't beat their prices. My only complaint is that they do seem to be understaffed at times and you sometimes get someone who normally works in another department taking the regular guys shift, but have no complaints about selection.

I do have to agree, for the most part their movie selection and the promptness of them putting their movies out is typically very good. The video games on the other hand, not so good.

I use to work at walmart, and they should not have told you that, someone can get the information as to when they may have the item or they should have at least tried. Call 1800 walmart and complain about it.

Thanks for the info. I am going to have to give them a call. I was wandering around their website last night looking for a way to contact them and I am either blind or they don't have a way to contact them online. :)

I don't think they have it on there website, and stores should have them, but most don't. They do make it very hard to complain. Employees are not suppose to tell you about it either!

From IM's, I got mixed individual reviews on Walmart. Also, the news don't make them look very good either. I also wonder why employess ended up forming a union, something that is not very common when it comes to store chains. Some say that they've had good experiences with WalMart, & others would love to throw a few bricks through their windows. Basically, I think it depends on who works there, as some say that the staff is indeed helpful, & others say that the staff rely on union protection to keep their jobs. As for me, it is kind of tough to say, because I have not found a WalMart in my area.

I worked at Wal-mart a while back and there was always someone who could give you info on items you needed or wanted. But Wal-mart has gone down hill in the past year. Most people that work there don't want to help the customers and managers act as though they don't care. I only shop there when I have to and I'm in and out as quickly as I can be.
