Mine blooms around Thanksgiving and this year it bloomed right before valentine's Day. I guess because of all the wierd weather we have had. Mine looks a little wilted, but I think that is because we had all time record lows right after having record highs a couple of weeks before.

i guess they call this a dormant stage. mines been looking a little worse for wear lately, i'm giving it more direct sun to see if this helps. i water once a week 1/2 cup of water. what do you do as far as watering is concerned. by the way ours bloomed in november thru to christmas, before that it was july and august. very beautiful sight

I water when I remember to do it!LOL I guess about once a week or so. I just pour a little in because it is in a pot with out holes in the bottom. I try to keep it moist but let it almost dry between watering. Mine blooms when ever the temps change. When I take it out for spring or in for the winter, I get blooms. I have never had it bloom for February though, and thought it was funny that it did this year. Only the side that was turned to the window bloomed, and so I think it may have been the unusual warm weather that we had during that time. A few days of below freezing and setting near the window I believe is the reason mine looks a little limp, but it is doing good and i do not think I will have any problems from it. I give mine lots of sun, but i also know a lady who has her's in the LR on the coffee table and it is HUGE. It gets very little sun there, so I guess it is what ever it is use to.

My grnadma's christmas cactus was kept on a breezeway, getting only dappled sun, so I brought it home and placed it in different areas of my home until I found somewhere it seems to like. It seems to prefer being beside my computer on a desk that gets very little sunlight. I do open the blinds during the day so it continues to get some sun, but not much. Mine is currently looking wrinkly and I am hoping it will overcome.

yes we love plants too . they don't grow well in our climate. i'm told that these cactus go through a ( quiet) time where they may become droopy and flascid. mine are going thru this stage right now. we normally keep it beside the juccusi but lately we have had to move it into more direct sunlight.with fifty plants growing it must keep you very busy just watering them. we have a rubber plant, the cactai, spider plant and a dosen babies growing from it and a corn tree, weeping ivy, spade ivy,, celosia, queen anns lace , outside of course, and cleome. i'm having trouble getting rid of a plant that resists weed killer. not sure what it is but it keeps comeing back every year. has 5 spear shaped leaves and stinks to heaven
