san antonio spurs vs denver nuggets in the first round in the playoffs  

with the nuggets winning game 1 and allen iverson and carmelo anthony torching the spurs with at least 30 points a piece, i think this is going to be the most exciting series in the nba aside from vince carter's toronto homecoming and don nelson's dallas homecoming. the spurs will definitely come up strong in game 2, after all we all know what the spurs can do. they're a playoff tested team and cant be counted out yet, especially that its only game 1. good thing to see for the nuggets that AI and melo is finally gettting along pretty well. just like most of the spurs players, iverson is a playoffs proven player. he even almost single handedly led philadelphia to the 2001 playoffs before losing to shaq and kobe. now that he's got anthony along with him, denver is definitely a team to watch this playoffs

not only that, i think the san antonio spurs is one of the most unselfish teams in the nba, just maybe close to the phoenix suns. duncan, parker, ginobili.. these guys really dont care if they score a lot of points every night, as long as they win the game, thats what matters most for them

I agree. None of the Denver Nuggets come close to Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili's playoffs experience. In the post-season, that matters a lot, and that's especially true in this series, where two teams can be evenly-matched until the latter parts of their games. In those segments of the games, clutch plays and game-winners are often made in favor of the more experienced team.

On the coaching staff, this is a great match between George Karl and Gregg Popovich. They're part of a trio (the other being Larry Brown) who has grown and learned from each other, and it all comes down to how their respective teams execute in responses to their coaches' geniuses.

i was thinking robert horry is an odd man out for the spurs. he just averaged a little above 3 points and 3 rebounds a game in the season, both are actually career lows for him. but the 36 year old veteran came up firing in their last two games against the nuggets, doing what he does best, hitting those clutch baskets which decided the outcome of the game. robert horry has established himself more as one of the best clutch performers in the nba history. let him sit the whole game and field him in the dying seconds of the game and he'll win the game for you. he's not named 'big sht rob' for nothing
