I'm Chinese, my first foreign language is English, and I prefer American English 'cause is lively and more flexible. My second foreign language is Japanese, for me it's not very hard to learn 'cause there are many Chinese characters and many "ka" "wa" "da" sounds in this language, very interesting. If possible, I want to learn a third language, but I'm not sure which is better to choose.
so what are your first&second or third foreign languages? Is it hard or easy to learn? how many of you guys want to learn Chinese? maybe I could help you on it.:)

I do not speak any other language fluently other than English though I have taken Spanish and French in high school and college. I remember some spanish words and some French words but am not able to hold a conversation in either of those languages. It would be nice to learn those languages fluently and would love Italian as well. I am not sure if I would be able to remember so many different languages as I might get them all confused.:-)

I know that many Americans speak Spanish now, and when I was in college, I tried to learn Spanish, but I can only speak "hola" now. Once I learned some Korean from my roomate, But I have forgot it totally. lol
anyway, I hope I could learn French later 'cause it is said that it's the most exquisite language in the world!

Hello. Welcome to mylot. I am a Filipino and my language is Filipino language. I could speak two Filipino dialects: Tagalog and Visayan dialect. I grew up in Laguna province so I learned how to speak Tagalog but my parents could speak Visayan so I could easily understood Visayan language too.

The first and foreign language that I know is English but I could only understand English with American accent. Sometimes, it is hard for me to understand English with its thick British accent.

It is not hard for me to learn English since it is the basic part or subject in the school curriculum in my country. Perhaps in the near future I could learn some other foreign language. Anyway, have a nice day!

Hi, sponkit, you are sweet!
Since I don't know much about Filipino, before I saw your answer, I thought that Filipino is ONE language, I didn't know that it has two different branches, so what's the difference between Tagalog and Visayan?
to be honest, I don't like British much, it's more reserved than American English, not that lively.

Actually, the Filipino language is consist of a lot of dialects. I think it is like Chinese language because Chinese language has a lot of dialects like Mandarin, Fookien, Cantonese, etc.

There is much difference with Tagalog and Visayan dialect. Aside from the words and grammar, the difference is the accent. A lot of Filipino people could understand Tagalog dialect since it is predominant language especially in the Metro Manila and Luzon areas.

I am Italian. My first foreign language was French, then I learnt English and later German. I am fluent on all of them and love using them, especially German. Because I travel extensively I always feel like I know too few ofthem. For instance, I will be flying to Bulgaria in a couple of weeks and, while I love my visits to that Country, I always feel like an idiot while I am there, because, not only do I not know the language, I do not even know how to read, because of their Cyrillic alphabet. On every trip I learn how to read most of the letters, then when I go back I realize I have forgotten some of them. I have looked for some course in that language (CD, books, whatever) but I have been unable to find anything.
I think that the more languages you learn, the easier it becomes and I do not think there is such a thing as an easier or more difficult language. They are all as complicated as the thoughts you want to express in them. Also it takes about the same amount of time to really master any of them. I would love to learn Chinese, but the writing part scares me to death.
