23rd April is St. George's Day in England. He is our patron saint. We think of him as a knight in shining armour on horseback saving a maiden from a dragon. To remind us to help others. He was killed by the Romans in around 303AD for refusing to persecute Christians. Apparently they had to try many ways as he refused to die too. They cut his body into pieces and buried it but Christ brought him back to life. They boiled him in molten lead. They placed him between two spiked rolling wheels but he survived that too. They forced him to drink poison. They tried to behead him but a firestorm rained down on his attackers and killed them all instead. (From an article of the St. George Catholic Church, Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii) Which is your patron saint or do you have an equivalent?

I feel awful as although I know about St Georges day I did not know all that about how he was killed. I always think of George and the dragon.
