I have taken it upon myself to teach my nieces the importance of 'stranger danger.' They are 4 and 6 now. I've taught them how to spot a cop, firemen, or someone else that can help them during a bad situation. I have taught them how to dial 911 when they need the police's help. I have taught them never to talk to strangers. Now, I'm just wondering if theres more I should be teaching them. I know you can never be too careful in this day and age. Is there anything else I should be teaching my nieces?

I would also teach them that not all policemen and firemen are perfect. Unfortunatley, in this day and age, even the people we are SUPPOSED to teach our kids to trust, can't be trusted. I teach my kids to try to find someone in a uniform, but I also tell them that they are not to go anywhere with those people either. They are to stay in a big group of people like the store or something if they happen to lose me...NEVER walk off with someone alone no matter who they are! It's so sad that we can't even trust our authority figures anymore.

Yeah I agree that you cant even trust someone in a police uniform. I'm not saying that all cops are bad, but even these days, you can buy a police uniform and walk around in it. thats why I also taught my nieces to be able to recognize a police car. I think it would be a little harder for a fake to get a police car.
