Waiting for God
What age is the age of wisdom, 30, 40, ........
I tell you there is no wisdom in becoming older. The only wisdom that you falsely believe in, is the realization, that your body and your mind is checking out. Then you start pleading with the goddesses to give you more time. .

So what is it about body image? Particularly for us thoughtful, progressive, status-quo challenging, older, wiser souls who really do “know better”. What if I look 'good for my age.' I’m still my darn age.

We worry in part because we fear losing the functionality and flexibility and health of youth. And also because we think everyone else is looking at us askew for aging. The fear starts creeping up, what if he leaves you for a younger model, trade in is no option. But it is none of the above.

It is the cracking of bones in the morning, the aches and pains that you feel, each morning there is a new one to remind you that getting older is not for sissies.

That thought makes you feel good, it feels like you were given a test paper where you don’t necessarily have to be top in your class.

Then you stumble to the barroom with new inspiration, as you look at yourself in the mirror, you think, not to bad for your “age” You pick up your tooth brush and with a sigh of relief, you think to yourself, at least you don’t have to take your teeth out of a container to brush, they are all neatly in a row, in your mouth. For now at least.

You go to the wardrobe and look at the size label and think, well I grew in statue, that’s not too bad because your hair stopped growing, your nails are brittle and a few other things have sagged, but at least everything else is still attached to one body.

As you try to put your shoes on, you realize those days are gone, you quickly walk to the bed, and try to foil the whole exercise, by sitting down and with a few moans and groans you finally got them on.. You are almost done then you see another cruel reminder on the bedside table, a notebook.

You look at your notes and it looks like someone else’s, because it is like you’ve seen them now for the first time, Can it be that you wrote them down last night, so you won’t forget, or is it part of the wisdom, that comes with age…

As you walk to the office, there is a feeling of accomplishment when you feel the strain in your back for trying to walk up straight, you look at your reflection in the shop window and think OMG there is surely something wrong with this window! Because the image in your mind concerning your posture, is definitely not the one that is reflecting back at you. You pull your self straight, well you try, without injuring yourself.

On your way home you hear on the news, Marlon Brandon died and you think how can it be, celebrities are suppose to live forever. You get home, greet your spouse, which are giving you the news that your friend just had a stroke and is not going to make it.

In all your wisdom you know you have reached the age where you are on God’s hit list.

Then only you started to relax, realizing you are not alone, but that you are among the wise, elite, Waiting For God:)
