What songs affect you emotionally?  

Luther Vandross Dance with my father always gets me. My father was never in the picture but my grandfather was my replacement. WhenI hear that song all I can remember is my Aunt's wedding when he and I danced to that song. It brings a smile to my face though, thank you for bringing on that smile tonight. God Bless.

I believe all music is inspiring. I get so emotional when I hear dont change by music soul child my now deceased ex sang that song and dedicated it to me in a talent show. I also get emotional when I hear I'll stand by you by the pretenders.

"My Immortal" by Evanescence makes me cry everytime I hear it, it was on the radio today while I was driving. A few years ago, I had to drive by myself for a long distance to my Grandfathers funeral. This song kept popping up on every station I was listening to and it just got to me. The funeral was emotionally draining and my Uncle said something like "who will we have to bury next?" since we lost so much family lately. He died the next year :( So I think of him too when I hear it.

I remember studying in music class how sounds and melodies affects brain waves and therefore moods.
I think one of the saddest songs in the world is Billie Holiday's version of Gloomy Sunday, in terms of both music and lyrics. Another that comes to mind is Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek, which seems to be the song of choice for every sad movie scene. For me, it creates just the mood in which she sings and the mood that the lyrics imply, muted and almost-numbed sadness and disbelief.

New Age type is the main type of music that i listen to the most.
i like it because it calms me down if i am angry,sad,or whatever

Stairway to heaven I cannot remember who sang it. I think it was Moody Blues. My husband and I use to make out to that song. We are still married. In September it will be 30 years.

This is going to seem really silly. I have a friend who absolutely loves Reba McEntire. He played the song, "I Know You'll Fly" for me one day. It made me cry. I'm not really sure why. And then my fiance was flipping channels one day and when he was about to pass by CMT he stopped - and it was the same song. And I burst into tears... like some crazy person, sobbing uncontrollably. I don't even know why.

Well, I am so emotional about all the music I hear.
And sometimes I can pinpoint an obvious reason but sometimes one song will just strike me for no reason whatsoever. I hear the words, I can relate in some way but yet just not sure how.
One song I have been so drawn to is by Hawthorne Heights, "Ohio is for Lovers". So powerful really to me and I am not sure the exact reasons behind it but it totally takes me to the zone.
