Do you prefer a la carte or buffet?

I think there are pros and cons for each. A la carte food quality tends to be better. However, one doesn't get a wide variety because you simply eat what you order. If one orders too much, one won't be able to finish all the food. Buffet is great when one likes a wide variety of food to eat. However, food quality tends to be lower than a la carte. If you had a choice, which would you prefer and why? Please share your stories. Thanks.
