are we all so rushed

I went to the store yesterday after work to pick up some baby food for my baby. I was there and saw a friend and we started chatting. And, I noticed people were giving nasty looks like they were annoyed as they had to walk round us instead of straight.. Have we just lost our minds? Are we all in so much of a hurry that we can not even smile at one another anymore? Or, say excuse me? Instead we snarl and make faces? Everyone is living in such a fast pace I feel like we do not connect with one another anymore... Its kind of sad...
