Only some types of epilepsy are triggered by tv and video games, also it depends on what your son's triggers are.
My 4 year old has epilepsy and when she gets really emoitional like overly hyper, upset, mad, happy things like that, it sometimes triggers seizures. She plays a game boy (even though she has no idea how to really play it,lol),watches tv and stuff like that. Her seizures are only at night and are only partial seizures on her left side,so I don't know how helpful I have been but hopefully I was a little bit of help.

Thank you so much, I apprectiate any info that I can recieve about this illness. At this point all we know is that he has epilepsy, but haven't figured out what causes it. We live in Saipan, it's a small island in the Northern Marianas. Although we have pretty much all the ammenties of basic living, what we don't have is a great hospital. We lack doctors, nurses and an MRI. Therefore my son's condition has yet to be explained. Thank You again!

Yes, it can, if, as the other poster says that's his trigger. I can't watch anything like that with really flashy lights. It should be better if he plays in a lighted room.

I don't have an idea that game boy can trigger epilepsy until I see this post and read the above responses. I think even epileptic or not, game boy has in a way some bad effects on kids especially on their eyes so we should limit our children from playing this gadget.

If your child had photosensitive epilepsy, then there is a possibility that the cycles (the speed of the scenes changing, making it look like movemonet) frequency can indeed trigger seizures.
I suffer with epilepsy, but I use handheld games systems, and games consoles, but as long as I have a good amount of breaks it's not an issue.

I have seent hat warning on XBox games and Nintendo Game Boy and DS games. It is my understanding that it is photosensitivity epileptics that are at risk. I don't know if that is one of your son's seizure triggers, but if it is it doesn't sound like a good combo. I would be very careful of the games you choose.

I know when I was young the fire truck lites or police lites flashes off and on would bring on a seizure but the tv did not as long as wasn't to close to it
I doing allot better since then he will grow out it after a while as long as he takes his pills...I understand how he feels its drag.but tell him it's going get better.there's actors on tv so that way he hve something to look for ward to.
GOOD LUCK].
