My odd schedule tends to throw off my sleep schedule like crazy. So sometimes I need to turn to the occassional sleep aid. The only problem is that on the occassion that I do take them, I have an extremely difficult time waking up the next day. I could sleep 13 hours easily. But then I know I'll feel groggy and sore and end up not sleeping that night, thereby starting a vicious cycle! So I get up but it takes hours to "clear the cobwebs" as they say. This morning it it took me like 3 hours to type up a simple letter!
Anyone else experience this? How do you deal with it?

i took a sleeping pill once in my lfie and got the same feeling. I slept for 12 hours but still got up feeling like I ahvent got enough sleep. i guess it just relaxes our body so much that our body craves all the sleep we have missed out on a week! Since i took it only once, i didnt bother about it too much. But if you take them often then maybe you should see a doctor about changing your prescription.

Be careful, if possible do not use sleeping pills, better take a hot/cool bath,and reading will make you sleep. Some olive oil can also help you.

I have a slight sleeping problem. I can't sleep easily. Sometimes I just lay down my bed for three hours and I can't even sleep. Sometimes it's a pain because I have to wake up early tomorrow. Still, I don't drink any sleeping pills because my doctor doesn't advised me to take some. It might have a bad side effect to me that might ruin my sleeping habits. So what I do is one hour before my sleeping time I engage myself to tiring activity so after finishing it I am so sleepy.

I will try. I'm not sure what sort of tiring activity I could do but I'll think on it. :)

Yeah that happens with sleeping pills. You could try breaking it half. That can cut down the "hangover".
But if you find yourself going to bed at an odd hour, A hot shower and a cool,quiet bedroom with no distractions is probably your best bet.And don't let yourself get "reved up" by doing a bunch of stuff before going to bed.It just stimulates your system and makes it that much harder to get sleep.

I myself do not have a problem with this but my husband works nights so he sleeps during the day. It's very hard for him to fall asleep because IT IS daytime. He takes that over the counter Sominex. He said it works great for him. So, if you're taking a script, maybe you should think about switching to an over the counter one. The ones you're taking may just be too strong for you. Or you might just try taking a half of whatever it is you're taking.

Have you tried melatonin? It actually something that occurs naturally in your body but you can buy it just about anywhere. It is in with the vitamins at Walmart. Most sleep aids had no effect on me but this did and I did not feel groggy in the morning. Hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

I usually sleep much longer in the weekend. First thing you need to know is just don't think of anything. Our mind can manipulate our body. Just relax. Besides warm bath, yoga can help. And maybe massage too.

I have trouble sleeping too and I tried the sleeping medicine once, but it made me feel that way also so I was afraid to try it again. I even tried cutting the pill by 1/4, but it was still too much for me. I turned to the sleepy time tea and that has helped for a long time. Now I am feeling more stress so I am having trouble again. I can get to sleep, but I wake up after a few hours and then I'm up for 3 more before I can go back to sleep. Thanks for your post. Maybe it will help me too.
