What's a good car seat? | | Our little one is getting close to needing a new car seat and we're not sure which one to get. I've heard that the Eddie Bauer (sp) 3 in 1 is pretty good, also the Britax is good too, but it's only for children up to 40lbs. Does anyone have the Eddie Bauer? How does it work? do you like it? How about the Britax? How does that work? Is it worth the additional $100 or so?

It's got a great tether system, we've got a newer car so it works well in it, like our car has places for the tether on the ceiling and sides of the seat. We got it installed at the fire department and the guys said it was pretty impressive. I like that I can keep him in a 5 point harness for so long, I don't feel comfortable with him being in a booster seat in a year or so.

nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | This is going to sound stupid, but what's a tether system? I've read that the Britax is one of, if not the best car seat out there. Can it be placed as a rear facing seat? or is it front facing only? My lo is about 16 or 17lbs and i don't know how much longer he'll be able to fit in the snuggly he has now, so i'm looking for other long term options. I was looking into the Eddie bauer 3 in 1 because it carries a child up to 100lbs instead of 60 or 65lbs. I'm not good with lbs and ages, so i'm not sure at what age they usually reach 65lbs.

mememama (2154) | 3 years ago | It has things that look like seatbelts coming out of the seat that hook up to different parts of the car, it makes it so it's harder for it to move around. It's both rear facing and forward facing, a lot of people have their child rear facing in it longer than one year and the child is comfortable. It's also airline approved, so if you travel you can bring it onboard if you pay for a seat, kids do so much better in carseats on planes since they can't wiggle around and it's something familiar.
